Hungry Geeks Philippines Incorporated, in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry Caraga Regional office, conducted a WordPress 101 training last August 26 – 28, 2017. The three-day training was held in the conference room of DTI Caraga Regional office, located on the 4th floor of D&V Plaza Building, Butuan City. Nineteen eager trainees were shown the ropes about website development through WordPress. Posting blogs, adding images, making contact forms, and using MailChimp were just some of the tasks learned. The training is part of Hungry Geeks’ LEGS program where previous trainees help new participants gain a new skill. Hungry Geeks went beyond WordPress 101 and included topics about copyright laws, health and nutrition, modern farming, and interview etiquette. Hungry Geeks not only aims to improve the standard of life through technology but also advocates for a clean and healthy living. All pertaining topics were discussed by experts from the US who have a partnership with Hungry Geeks. In the first day, Esquire Arthur Reyna tackled about the importance of copyright while Chef Nicolas Carson talked about the hazards of processed foods. Dr. John Lewis, a leading authority in Nutrition in the US, discussed the significance of diet and nutrition to one’s overall wellness. Mr. Jim Wiseheart, the founder of Hungry Geeks, gave tips on what to do in an online interview. All these were discussed in between WordPress training. In a span of three days, trainees not only gained the basic skills in website development but were also given a glimpse about an advocacy worth sharing.
